On 10–11 October 2025, Navdanya International was invited to present in the concluding session of the LUMEN Conference in Forlì, organized by the University of Bologna in collaboration with the Universities of Florence and Trieste. The event explored new ways of connecting legal, ecological, and social frameworks to strengthen resilience within territories and communities.

Under the title “You Need a Seed to Build a Table,” the conference highlighted a shared vision among researchers, institutions, and civil society: every act of regeneration begins with the seed — the living foundation of ecological and cultural renewal.

Navdanya International’s closing intervention focused on the need to place the Rights of Nature and the Ecosystem Approach at the heart of governance, reconnecting human laws with the laws of the Earth. Drawing on extensive experience in defending biodiversity, seeds, and water, the presentation illustrated how legal innovation must be rooted in living examples of ecological democracy and community participation. Special attention was given to the theme of water resilience, underlining that restoring the integrity of water cycles is essential for reimagining thriving ecosystems, soils, and community life.

By bringing together diverse disciplines and territories under a common vision, the LUMEN Conference reaffirmed that the future of law, like that of the Earth, depends on our capacity to regenerate the living systems that sustain us — beginning, always, with the seed. The Forlì event was held as the final conference of the “Law of natUre and huMan Ecosystem approach” (LUMEN) project, funded under the PRIN PNRR 2022 program.
