Healthy food is the result of our relationship with the Earth, our care for the Earth, and good food for all is the right of all beings.
“16 October, World Food Day is a moment to remember what really is food and who feeds us. Food is the very currency of life. The world is interconnected through the movement of nutrition and nourishment. Food is not a commodity, nutritionally empty and toxic, it is not ‘bio-engineered’ for deficiencies. Food, healthy food is the result of our relationship with the Earth, our care for the Earth, and good food for all is the right of all beings – of the bees, who shouldn’t be getting killed with neonicotinoids, of the earthworms, who shouldn’t be getting wiped-out by chemical fertilizers and glyphosate, of the poorest person and the last child. Let us now unite together worldwide to reclaim our food as the nourishment for all. Good food for all has to unite small farmers, it has to unite women, whose creativity has fed the world, it has to unite all those who fight for the right to food. But the right to food has to be the right to good food and with agroecology, with biodiversity, Navdanya has shown we can feed two times the world population, while we care for the planet, while we address the climate problem, while we solve the water crisis and the crisis of refuges and conflicts. Let’s just join hands now. It is time for good food”.
