Jean Grossholtz

Trusty friend and cherished colleague in arms, Jean was above all an intrepid free spirit whose direct and no nonsense approach instinctively made you feel her deep humanity and wise old soul. Co-founder of the Diverse Women for Diversity movement and a life-long activist for civil rights and social justice, Jean would always be there, leading non-violent civil disobedience marches in support of the many civil rights causes that were so close to her heart.

She was always ready whenever and wherever the need arose, from co-drafting the DWD declaration on a piece of napkin in a pizza place, holding a banner in support of Women’s Rights at Seattle, or calling for No Patents on Life for Seed Freedom in India. Jean spread love and light, fearlessness and courage.

She was exciting to be with, and never failed to inspire. She leaves a gap in our lives and community.
