Today, on World Food Day, we must confront the urgent truth: the industrial food system, dominated by monocultures, pesticides, and poisons, is fueling the climate crisis and threatening the health of our planet and our people. This system prioritizes profit over life, destroying biodiversity, depleting soils, and polluting our water and air.

Industrial agriculture, a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbates climate change, while toxic chemicals in pesticides poison ecosystems and communities. Monocultures not only strip the earth of its fertility but also drive small farmers off their lands, leaving us dependent on a handful of corporations for our food.

But there is another path. By protecting biodiversity and embracing ecological farming, we can create resilient food systems that nourish both people and planet. Biodiversity is a commons, a shared heritage of life on Earth, and the foundation of health, nutrition, and climate resilience.

On this World Food Day, we stand with farmers, communities, and movements worldwide calling for food sovereignty and a shift away from industrial agriculture. Let’s cultivate biodiversity, restore our soils, and build a food system rooted in care for the Earth, health, and justice.
