Launch of our new report exposing what lies beneat Launch of our new report exposing what lies beneath the shiny rhetoric of “New Genomic Techniques” (link in bio): On November 22nd Navdanya International presented its new report on recent developments of “New Genomic Techniques” at the international Semilla de Resistencia Global event in Mexico City. Our report traces the worrying political shifts of recent years and amplifies the voices of the Indigenous, small farmers’, and civil society movements who are resisting unjust deregulations that favour NGTs, exempting them from labeling, biosafety checks and traceability. Movements that, from Mexico to the world, defend seeds as a heritage of communities, not a commodity for corporate empires — a struggle echoed throughout our work resisting bio-imperialism and defending agrobiodiversty and biodiversity as a common good. Despite being presented as cutting-edge and “nature-like,” NGTs hide an old story: the same industrial model of control over seeds, the same drive to patent life, the same threat to our biodiversity and agrobiodiversity. If NGT seeds were truly “just like nature,” they could not be patented. The political push to deregulate them while maintaining their patentability reveals the contradiction at the heart of this agenda — either they are artificial and risky, or we are witnessing a new attempt to privatize the living commons. As NGTs tries to rebrand itself as “innovation,” we remind policymakers: real innovation protects life, not profits. In November, Navdanya International offered first- In November, Navdanya International offered first-year classes at the I.C. Bruno Munari middle school in Rome a series of ecological workshops focused on soil, the foundation of life. Through a sensory journey — looking at, smelling, and touching soil samples — students explored soil horizons and rebuilt the layers of the earth together, guided by intuition, curiosity, and cooperation. With the support of educators, they deepened their understanding of the role of soil in ecosystems and its connection with biodiversity, also through simple cooperative games in the classroom. By creating their own “Navdanya garden”, planting nine different seeds to care for over time, they reflected on the “rights” of the Earth and on everyday actions to protect water, air, soil, and habitats. The collaborative atmosphere and active participation nurtured new awareness: each student chose a word to describe the experience — earth, life, seeds, creativity — as a sign of shared learning and a new ecological sensitivity growing from the ground beneath our feet. — Nel mese di novembre, Navdanya International ha proposto alle classi del primo anno della Scuola Secondaria @icbrunomunari di Roma una serie di workshop di educazione ecologica dedicati al suolo, fondamento della vita. Attraverso un viaggio sensoriale — osservando, annusando e toccando diversi campioni — ragazze e ragazzi hanno esplorato gli orizzonti del suolo e ricostruito insieme gli strati della terra, guidati da intuizione, curiosità e collaborazione. Guidati dagli educatori, hanno approfondito il ruolo del suolo negli ecosistemi e il legame con la biodiversità, anche tramite semplici giochi cooperativi in classe. Creando il loro “orto Navdanya” e piantando nove semi diversi da curare nel tempo, hanno riflettuto sui “diritti” della Terra e sui piccoli gesti quotidiani per proteggere acqua, aria, suolo e habitat. Il clima collaborativo e la partecipazione attiva hanno favorito nuove consapevolezze: ciascuno ha scelto una parola per descrivere l’esperienza — terra, vita, semi, creatività — a testimonianza di un apprendimento concreto e condiviso e di una nuova sensibilità ecologica che nasce da sotto i nostri piedi
Passeggiando nei boschi e attraversando i paesaggi Passeggiando nei boschi e attraversando i paesaggi urbani, abbiamo imparato a vedere il mondo sotto i nostri piedi con occhi nuovi—scoprendo la vita nel suolo, nelle erbe spontanee e negli angoli inattesi della natura. Ogni passo è diventato esplorazione di ecosistemi visibili e nascosti, dalle radici profonde delle foreste al verde resiliente tra le pietre dei cortili.� Utilizzando i sensi e la creatività—disegnando, raccogliendo pigmenti naturali, osservando piante spontanee—abbiamo coltivato un legame nuovo con il territorio, trasformando i paesaggi quotidiani in storie viventi.
