What do we really know about the food we eat? As p What do we really know about the food we eat? As part of the project "Caring for the Earth is Caring for Life", a workshop at the supermarket challenged students to answer a question that is both simple and far-reaching: what does it really mean to make conscious food choices?

Armed with a food assessment sheet, they analysed real products from their everyday diets – from Pecorino Romano PDO to packaged snacks – learning to look beyond the label and examine origin, supply chain, processing, environmental impact and nutritional value.

The exercise sparked genuine curiosity, uncovered unexpected additives, and even led one group to call a producer directly for more information.

A reminder that every food choice can be an act of responsibility towards the environment and all living beings.

Agriculture needs Science - But which Science? The Agriculture needs Science - But which Science? The debate around GMOs and New Genomic Techniques is too often framed as a choice between science and its absence. It isn't. Behind the dominant narrative around biotechnology, there are, in Salvatore Ceccarelli's own words, truths withheld even from policymakers. The real question is not whether agriculture needs science. It is “which science” we are talking about.

Ecology, medicine and genetics have long converged on a fundamental insight: diversity is the foundation of resilience, productivity and health. Yet for over a century, conventional plant breeding has moved in the opposite direction, and GMOs and NGTs are its latest expression. The alternative is not a rejection of science. It is a return to a deeper one: agrobiodiversity, crop diversity, intercropping, evolutionary populations. An approach with deep roots in agricultural history, confirmed by the Fundamental Theorem of Natural Selection, and endorsed by thousands of independent studies. Drawn from an article by Salvatore Ceccarelli, agronomist, geneticist and pioneer of participatory and evolutionary plant breeding, published as part of our report "Seeds of Resistance: GMO Deregulation and Grassroots Mobilization". Caring for wildlife means recognising that all lif Caring for wildlife means recognising that all life is interconnected. Within the project “Caring for the Earth is Caring for Life”, a workshop at the CRAS – Wildlife Rescue Centre of the Lake Vico Nature Reserve offered young people the chance to experience local wildlife first-hand and to meet those who care for injured and distressed animals every day. Starting from questions raised in the classroom and a strong sense of empathy towards animals, students explored how a rescue centre works and what concrete actions we can take to protect wild animals and their habitats.

Water is life, not a commodity. On World Water Day Water is life, not a commodity.
On World Water Day 2026, water must be addressed as a human right and a commons, not as a field for speculation and profit. The current water crisis is not only about physical scarcity, but about political and economic decisions that privatise sources, financialise water and sacrifice territories and communities.
The Blue Communities movement, initiated by Maude Barlow, the Council of Canadians and the Blue Planet Project, shows that communities can reclaim water as a public, democratic responsibility, commit to phasing out bottled water, and defend rivers, aquifers and wetlands as living infrastructures for life and climate.
Udine, the first city in Italy to become a Blue Community, connects local struggles to a broader global movement for water justice. Linking water, climate, food systems and gender justice means recognising who bears the highest costs of contamination, droughts, floods and privatisation, and building alliances capable of changing the rules that generate these crises.
Defending water today is a political act. It means opposing extractivism, supporting regenerative agriculture, and rebuilding collective forms of care for our watersheds. Because water is life. And life is not for sale.
