Background

The Pre-Summit of the UN Food Systems summit to be held in a hybrid format in Rome from 26 to 28 July will be decisive for the final direction and outcomes of the summit. The liaison group of the autonomous people’s response to the UN Food Systems Summit for transforming corporate food systems therefore invites you to be part of a colourful mobilization in parallel and in the run up to the Pre-Summit.

Our proposal

We plan to organize a 3 day program as counter event to the Pre-Summit. From Sunday 25 to Tuesday 27 July we want to:

Day 1 (Sunday, 25 of July): expose our joy and diversity while also reaffirming our unity in our resistance struggle and alternative visions with rally consisting of virtual and physical mobilizations,

Day 2 (Monday, 26 of July): organize substantive dialogues on some of the critical fault lines of the summit, with special emphasis to the different domains where the corporate capture materializes, and

Day 3 (Tuesday, 27 of July): celebrate our vision for reclaiming peoples` power and transform the industrial food system.

Get engaged in the rally!

For the rally on Sunday 25 of July, we plan to have three different formats: a) Political interventions or testimonies about how you are experiencing and fighting against corporate capture and what your vision is to radically transform food systems, b) Connected moments of resistance and protest in different territories and c) artistic performances of joy or protest (including music, poems, dances and other performances). Each of these contributions should last maximum 5 minutes.

The idea is that, as far as possible, these actions are streamed live in order to have a moment of connection, but pre-recorded actions can be transmitted as well.
