Bhoomi means Earth, and every year Navdanya celebr Bhoomi means Earth, and every year Navdanya celebrates her rights. This year's Bhoomi Festival, "Women Regenerating the Earth, Renewing Humanity," brought farmers, seed keepers, educators and citizens together at the India International Centre in New Delhi. Tables filled with seeds to save and share. An organic market of grains, pulses and forgotten foods from living soils. And inside, a gathering to honour the women who care for the land and keep seeds alive, generation after generation. Seeds travel, and so do the communities that share them. Next stop: Bracciano, 24 October, for "Agroecology and Regenerative Communities," with a seed exchange, a local producers' market and a day of dialogue among youth, schools, farmers and institutions. #Navdanya #Bhoomi #EarthDemocracy #SeedFreedom #WomenFarmers
There is no ecological regeneration without commun There is no ecological regeneration without community regeneration. It is the principle that guides Terrae Vivae, Navdanya International's programme that since 2023 has woven together communities, schools, farmers and institutions in the territory around Lake Bracciano. Transition is not decreed from above: it is built from the ground up, through participatory processes shaped by communities themselves, where everyone is an active part of change, not a passive recipient. Terrae Vivae grows from Navdanya's decades of experience, and feeds a wider international community of practice, where learning travels in both directions. This is the vision behind Youth & Territory, the gathering held this past 23 May. In Bracciano that vision has found a home in the Terrae Vivae Hub: Officine Municipali, a community space that starts from young people and opens up to the territory. The Terrae Vivae journey continues: the next appointment is Saturday 24 October in Bracciano, when "Agroecology and Regenerative Communities" will bring the international debate into a real territory — just after the UN Committee on World Food Security meets at FAO headquarters in Rome. As part of the project "Caring for the Earth Is Ca As part of the project "Caring for the Earth Is Caring for Life", students from the IIS Luca Paciolo art school took part in a workshop at @agricolalaargentina: "There is a level beyond organic farming, namely regenerative farming or agroecology, which aims to improve the environment and leave it in a better state than it was found." Between collecting eggs and watching the cows graze, the students got a firsthand look at what animal welfare really means, and how much everyday food choices can matter, for the animals, for the soil, for the planet. 🌱 Understanding the Invisible Life of the Soil As 🌱 Understanding the Invisible Life of the Soil As part of the Terrae Vivae programme, students at the Bracciano Agrarian Institute explored the vital role microorganisms play in soil fertility. They prepared Teku Cana, a microbiological biofertilizer made from forest litter, bran, molasses and water, activating locally adapted microorganisms to regenerate soil biodiversity. The activity shifted their perspective on farming, revealing the soil as a living ecosystem rather than a simple growing medium. #terraevivaenavdanya #Regeneration #SoilHealth #Biodiversity #TekuCana 🌱 Comprendere la vita invisibile del suolo Nel percorso di educazione ecologica con l'Istituto Tecnico Agrario di Bracciano, un'attività del programma Terrae Vivae si è concentrata sul ruolo dei microrganismi del suolo. Studentesse e studenti hanno realizzato un biofertilizzante microbiologico chiamato Teku Cana, un accumulatore di microrganismi locali per rigenerare la biodiversità del terreno, raccogliendo lettiera forestale e preparando un composto a base di crusca, melassa e acqua per innescare la fermentazione biologica. Un'esperienza che ha permesso di leggere il suolo come ecosistema vivente, promuovendo un cambio di paradigma rispetto all'agricoltura convenzionale.
