“It is time to learn from the mistakes of monoculture of the mind and the essentialising violence of reductionist thought. It is time to turn to diversity for healing.”
— Vandana Shiva
Homo sapiens are a part of the Earth Family and not separate. It is through ecological processes of the Earth, and the intricate web of life that we grow, eat, and flourish on this planet.
Looking back a few years, industrial chemical agriculture, driven by fossil fuels and chemicals, began after the wars and is a form of conflict against the Earth’s ecosystems — its biodiversity, soil, water, and climate.
This system, dominated by corporate control, GMOs, and patent monopolies, contributes to 75% of global ecological destruction, threatens small farmers’ livelihoods, and fuels food-related diseases.
In contrast, ecological food systems prioritize local economies and natural processes, harnessing solar energy rather than fossil fuels, thus rejuvenating soils, biodiversity, and water while supporting healthier communities.
Navdanya has practiced biodiversity, community-centered, and agroecological regenerative organic farming for over four decades which has scientifically proven rich soil ecosystem, enhanced yield, and farmers’ income, and focusing on increasing nutrition and health of the people, and agroecology.
The Return to Earth course offers an in-depth exploration of biodiversity, agroecology, and seed sovereignty. It serves as a valuable resource for those interested in biodiversity-based food systems and resilient cultures.
Participants will gain practical knowledge, educational tools, and insights into initiatives promoting ecological stewardship. It also seeks to empower global movements working toward food sovereignty and environmental justice.
