Journey Highlights
50 years ago the Chipko Movement started in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. 90 years ago when Gandhi started the salt satyagraha a forest satyagraha was started in Tilari, Garhwal. During the Tilari massacre, 16 people were martyred, 194 were wounded and cases of treason were filed against 70.
The living Democracy celebration “From the Seed to the Forest – Protecting Nature is Protecting Humanity” will have the participation of activists of the Chipko movement, descendants of the Tilari massacre, and the Mahila Anna Swaraj members from across Garhwal saving seeds and organic.
In the upcoming Himalayan Earth Journey engage with the traditions and customs of the local communities in the Yamuna Valley in Chakrata, Purola, and Sankri. Interact with farmers, artisans, and community members. And discover the historical and ecological significance of the region.
Through celebration, food, and vibrant conversations, experience regenerative and organic produce from local farms of the region. And learn about sustainable agriculture practices. Enjoy the breathtaking views and rejuvenation in nature’s lap while witnessing the majestic grandeur of the Himalayas.
