This year’s COP26 marks yet another failed attempt at tackling power structures in the food system, marked by a lack of holding polluting companies and the private sector responsible for their actions. In response to the imminent climate crisis, big tech investors and governments are advocating a range of inefficient, and often dangerous solutions that are geared towards replacing the very natural processes they have been destroying. False solutions cloaked as “climate action” include, artificial lab food, gene editing, carbon capture, carbon credits, net-zero and geoengineering.
