E\u2019 stata presieduta da Mary Jacob, Presidente di <em>Friends of Navdanya<\/em> ed \u00e8 stata tenuta da Vandana Shiva, Bob McFarland e Robert Kennedy Jr.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Durante la conferenza si sono trattati temi legati al riscadamento globale, alla sacralit\u00e0 dei semi tradizionali e non geneticamente alterati in modo artificiale e al grande problema dei pesticidi che stanno avvelenando il nostro pianeta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La Dr.ssa Shiva ha delineato il quadro globale di come solo tre aziende (il <em>Poison Cartel<\/em>) siano arrivate a possedere il controllo della produzione mondiale di erbicidi e pesticidi che avvelenano il nostro suolo, l&#8217;acqua e il cibo, e di come controllino anche i nostri semi. Shiva ha ricordato al pubblico che abbiamo solo dieci anni per ri-creare un mondo senza veleni, per prevenire la sesta estinzione di massa e una catastrofe climatica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bob McFarland, presidente di <em>California Guild,<\/em> ha esposto i risultati di successo delle coalizioni che hanno ottenuto di far aggiungere il glifosato alla lista dei prodotti chimici cancerogeni della California.\u00a0 Ha anche esortato il pubblico a sostenere il prossimo disegno di legge per la creazione di comunit\u00e0 prive dai veleni nello Stato, che prevede anche il divieto di utilizzo del glifosato in California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Robert Kennedy Jr. ha illustrato le sfide e i recenti successi delle cause contro la Monsanto (ora parte della Bayer Corporation) incentrate sui danni per la\u00a0 salute dell\u2019erbicida RoundUp, a base di glifosato.\u00a0 Kennedy ha fatto riferimento al rischio connesso al cambiamento degli equilibri di potere tra governi e imprese e ha sottolineato, soprattutto in questo momento critico, che la convergenza del potere delle imprese con il potere statale crea tirannia ed \u00e8 una minaccia per la libert\u00e0 delle persone.
