{"id":1210,"date":"2017-07-18T08:30:46","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T07:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/navdanyainternational.org\/ruchi-shroff-clim-act-camp\/"},"modified":"2023-05-08T15:59:11","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T13:59:11","slug":"ruchi-shroff-clim-act-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/navdanyainternational.org\/it\/ruchi-shroff-clim-act-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruchi Shroff &#8211; Voices from Clim&#8217;Act Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ruchi Shroff, of <a href=\"en\/\">Navdanya International<\/a>, held a workshop on &#8220;False Solutions to Climate Change&#8221; at the International camp on climate change, which took place in Rome on 11 July 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camp was organized within the framework of the European project Clim\u2019Act and coordinated by <a href=\"http:\/\/asud.net\/\">A Sud Onlus<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accionecologica.org\/\">Acci\u00f3n Ecol\u00f3gica<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/erafoen.org\/\">Environmental Rights Action \u2013 FoEN<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ejolt.org\/2011\/09\/za-zemiata\/\">ZaZemiata<\/a> with the participation of dozens of activists from Ecuador, Nigeria, Bulgaria, Thailand and India. The objective of the camp was to build together a youth-driven climate justice international campaign towards the next UN negotiation summit on Climate COP 23 that will take place in November 2017 in Bonn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This workshop followed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1934592473479292\/\">meeting with Dr Vandana Shiva<\/a> which took place on July 10th, who explained the vision outlined in Navdanya\u2019s publication <a href=\"https:\/\/navdanyainternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Terra-Viva_Manifesto-English.pdf\">Terra Viva<\/a>, produced on the occasion of the Year of Soil 2015. The soil crisis, the agriculture crisis, the climate crisis, and the refugee crisis are all interconnected and we, at <a href=\"http:\/\/navdanya.org\">Navdanya<\/a>, see that caring for the Soil and the Earth through ecological agriculture lie the solutions to the multifaceted crisis we face.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Shiva also pointed out the general misconception that climate change only has to do with energy systems.\u00a0 Of immense import, one left out of the equation, is that industrial agriculture is a fossil fuel based agriculture, with major emission factors, including carbon dioxide, nitrogen fertilizers, the running of huge industrial machines and transporting food over very long distances.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wrw8Ut02nBY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop on False Solutions to Climate Change\u00a0 addressed why the \u201ctechno-fixes\u201d proposed by Industry, such as biofuels, trade emission market, carbon trading, sustainable intensification, \u00a0climate smart agriculture, among others,\u00a0 are by no means effective solutions to climate change.\u00a0 On the contrary they are simply \u2018greenwashing\u2019\u00a0 corporate propaganda, hiding the next grabbing of the planet\u2019s resources .
