{"id":5545,"date":"2019-01-22T11:24:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T10:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/navdanyainternational.org\/?p=5545"},"modified":"2023-05-08T15:34:21","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T13:34:21","slug":"navdanya-international-joins-stopisds-campaign-sign-the-petition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/navdanyainternational.org\/de\/navdanya-international-joins-stopisds-campaign-sign-the-petition\/","title":{"rendered":"Navdanya International joins #StopISDS Campaign &#8211; Sign the Petition!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Feci.ttip%2Fvideos%2F222458762029749%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=476\" width=\"476\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On January 22, 2019, at the start of the 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/events\/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Economic Forum<\/a> in Davos <a href=\"https:\/\/stopisds.org\/alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">150+ European organisations<\/a>, trade unions and social movements launch a new trade and corporate accountability campaign called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/stopisds.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rights for People and Rules for Corporations \u2013 Stop ISDS<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Join the movement to end corporate privilege<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Corporations have their own global private court system \u2013 called ISDS \u2013 which they use to bully governments. But many victims of corporate human rights abuses don\u2019t have any way of winning justice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is unfair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We need to <strong>end these corporate courts now<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Instead, we need a <strong>tough global system that can punish multinationals for their crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stopisds.org\/action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Add your name to the European Initiative &#8211; Sign the Petition!<\/a><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"scroll\">\n<div id=\"petition_text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8222;Today\u2019s trade and investment agreements give transnational corporations <strong>far reaching special rights<\/strong> and access to a <strong>parallel justice system<\/strong> to enforce them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>We call on the EU and Member States to <strong>end these privileges<\/strong> by withdrawing from existing trade and investment agreements containing them, and not to conclude any such agreements in the future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>We also call on the EU and Member States to support the achievement of a UN binding treaty to <strong>hold transnational corporations to account<\/strong> for human rights violations, and end their impunity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The EU and Member States must enshrine in their laws the duties of corporations to respect human rights and the environment throughout their operations worldwide.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>People affected by corporate human rights violations must have access to justice.&#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/stopisds.org\/our-demands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Our Demands<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On January 22, 2019, at the start of the 2019 World Economic Forum in Davos 150+ European organisations, trade unions and social movements launch a new trade and corporate accountability campaign called \u201cRights for People and Rules for Corporations \u2013 Stop ISDS\u201d.
