Navdanya International Navdanya International

From local fields to global forums, Navdanya International continues in its effort to strengthen the living networks that defend biodiversity, seed freedom, and food sovereignty. Over these past months, our work has moved through many spaces — from grassroots communities to international platforms — to regenerate the Earth and rebuild our relationship with it through care, knowledge, and solidarity.

Education: Agroecology as living journey

With the start of the new school year, students from the Istituto Agrario embarked on a shared journey with Navdanya International through the Terrae Vivae educational program, part of the wider movement to regenerate communities through agroecology. Together, they are exploring how the future of farming can be rooted in ecological awareness, cooperation, and care for the land. Participative education for community-led stewardship of territories is one of Navdanya International’s core principles for resilient regeneration of living systems.

Global Dialogue for Local Regeneration — CFS & CSIPM

From October 21 to 24, the FAO headquarters in Rome hosted the 53rd Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), bringing together governments, civil society, and experts to discuss the future of global food governance.

The plenary sent a clear message for the future: resilience and food sovereignty demand a shift towards local food systems.

Navdanya International takes part in the Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples Mechanism (CSIPM), where social movements, indigenous people, farmers and fisherfolks networks and NGOs unite their voices and bring shared perspectives to the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), held each year at FAO in Rome.

Strengthening the Web of Regeneration — Navdanya International at the Biodistricts Meeting

On September 26th, Navdanya International joined the international meeting of Biodistricts, a growing movement connecting farmers, citizens, and institutions to promote ecological transition and territorial regeneration. The meeting offered space to exchange experiences and identify new forms of collaboration, strengthening our effort to link local action with global transformation. Navdanya International contributed to the discussion on how education, agroecology, and community participation can enhance the social and cultural dimensions of Biodistricts, ensuring coherence between grassroots initiatives and public policy.

“You Need a Seed to Build a Table” — LUMEN Final Conference

On 10–11 October 2025, Navdanya International was invited to deliver the concluding session of the LUMEN conference in Forlì, organized by the University of Bologna with the Universities of Florence and Trieste. The project explores new ways of connecting legal, ecological, and social frameworks to strengthen resilience in territories and communities.

Salmon are Sacred: Wild Salmon Caravan in Turtle Island

Navdanya International is collaborating with the Secwepemc-led Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS) in North America for the annual Wild Salmon Caravan. This partnership supports Indigenous-led river and ecosystem protection, linking efforts to defend water, biodiversity, and cultural heritage on a planetary scale.

Coming soon: Seeds of Resistance — Deregulation of GMOs and People’s Mobilization

Navdanya International’s upcoming report, Seeds of Resistance: Deregulation of GMOs and People’s Mobilization, exposes a global push for deregulation and its far-reaching consequences for biodiversity, farmers’ rights, and food sovereignty. The research also highlights the growing resistance from below — from legislative victories in Mexico and Colombia to mobilizations in Europe and the defense of seed sovereignty across Africa and Asia.

In November, Navdanya International will once again join partners and movements in Mexico, reaffirming our collective commitment to defend biodiversity, seed freedom, and food sovereignty across the Americas.

As we look toward the months ahead, our shared path of regeneration deepens. Through education, community action, and collaboration across continents, we continue to nurture the seeds of transformation — in the land, in culture, and in collective consciousness.
